As a performer for the Meryl Tankard Dance Theatre, is where Rochelle’s passion for choreography emerged. Her works are an innovative fusion of Australian and European influences. Rochelle produces a mélange of powerful emotionally infused dance and theatre incorporating fresh new ideas in design, costume, sound, light, illusion and puppetry, which are well known for their diversity and ability to engage audiences.

Her award winning debut work RUSH slips sex & marbles, has been followed by more than 50 new works since 1994, receiving nominations and awards for The Australian Dance Awards, Melbourne Fringe Festival, Arts Media Antenna Awards, Dancehouse Choreographic Innovation Award, Short and Sweet Festival Outstanding Choreographic Awards, and Australian Choreographic Award over two consecutive years.
Rochelle has also been, Artistic Director of the Melbourne Fringe Fashion Festival, consultant for Regional Arts Victoria, dance Assessor VCA secondary students, board member for Dancehouse, creator of industry based workshops for Greenmill Festival, Ausdance Vic & other major dance institutions, and was initiator and co-developer with Angela Pamic, for the Moving Works program at Theatre Works.

Rochelle has been commissioned by Victorian College of the Arts dance over the last 15 years to create new work, making her most recent works STONE 2014 and Around in 2016. After her fourth consecutive year, Rochelle returns to the VCA in 2017 with a new commission and remount for graduating third year students. She recently toured her award winning works, Out of No Thing to the Sibu International Dance Festival, Malaysia, & Aoroi to Geelong Performing Arts Centre.
Rochelle and film artist Justin Batchelor participated in a two week residency for the IGNITE program at Gasworks theatre. Their co-produced film work Plucked was screened at the Elgin Ties Dance Festival in Chicago, USA and short listed for the Australian Dance Awards Outstanding Achievement in Dance on Film/New Media 2014.
Rochelle teaches contemporary dance, classical ballet and choreographic methods working for major companies and institutions including Chunky Move, Meryl Tankard Dance Theatre, Victorian College of the Arts, Ausdance Victoria, Victorian State Ballet & Transit Dance.
Rochelle is currently producing a new series ‘beblocks’ (Registered Trademark), performances, workshops for children (3 to 6 years).
